International Medical Relief welcomes all family members to participate in our clinics.<\/h3>\n

Our family medical missions give parents the tools to establish the mindset for service and appreciation within their children. Your child(ren) will experience a new culture and gain perspectives beyond their day-to-day scope of life back home. They will become inspired for their future careers as they do things they have never done, explore places they have never been, and serve people they have never met.<\/p>\n

Start a new tradition or carry out an old one with your family as you spend time on a medical mission and watch your children amaze you as they grow from these experiences. Family members of all ages from toddlers through teens have varying roles in clinic to fit their target age and maturity. No age is too young!<\/p>\n

Exposing children to various cultures, from the food to the local traditions, adds unique value and experiences that your family will cherish for years to come. Instill in your family\u2019s values compassion and generosity as you provide hope and kindness by serving others. You will be proud as you witness your child(ren) doing something meaningful for others. Exposing them to varying cultures allows them to frame their global experiences to mirror your passion for awareness and adventure.<\/p>\n

Young family members and students play a wide variety of roles in our clinics. They will help in community education, registration, hand washing station, photographer, shadow a variety of providers (ideal for older children), help our patients go from one area of clinic to another (children are always great at directing traffic!), and entertain more than a few kids with a little nail polish, bubbles, singing songs, card games, and soccer or football games.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tMy daughter Arielle and my son Austin joined me on this mission and together we saw and experienced things that just aren\u2019t a part of our lives in America. Arielle was able to cleanse wounds and treat injuries, and she even extracted a tooth under dad's supervision. Austin worked tirelessly sterilizing instruments for the dental team, as well as educating the Nepali people about a number of ways to improve their health.\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tAttending our first medical mission in Costa Rica opened our eyes to many perspectives. Our family gained valuable experience along with learning the culture of Costa Rican patients. Not only was the IMR team inclusive and welcoming, but also the crew was easy to work with and friendly. It is extremely rare to find such an organization that accepts children. I enjoyed how IMR was able to accompany our 2 teenagers who are currently in high school, and our 7 year old son going into second grade. Overall, our family is forever grateful for having the opportunity to attend this medical mission and looking forward to attending future medical missions hosted by IMR!\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tIt was an amazing experience to watch my children interact with local children at their own level and offer them a helping hand. \n\nWhether it was giving them a toothbrush and showing them proper brushing techniques, teaching them a game, giving them food or vitamins, playing soccer as they wait for a provider, or aiding another volunteer with their work, my husband and I found this to be a life changing opportunity for all of us and it rewarded us beyond our greatest expectations.\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

We stay because of the multidisciplinary team that goes on every mission, the opportunity to live in the villages of those we serve, and the short commitment (generally seven days) that makes it possible to get the time off of work\u2026

I always go with my two sons. To see them share my passion of serving the underserved in their own way is something that very few parents get to experience.
